The International Circuit of Abruzzo in Ortona is housing the fourth round of the Italian ACI-CSAI Karting Championship that lived today its free practice Friday that already started to highlight the first protagonists of this weekend.

The conflict with official tests of the KF and KF Junior in France ahead of the championship that will take place at the track of Essay next 21 September and the recent exit for the European Championship in England only a few days ago, unfortunately reduced the number of drivers on track in Ortona's KF2 and KF3.

A total of 80 drivers are present at the International Circuit of Abruzzo, including KZ2 that will see 22 drivers on track, while 60 Mini is quite crowded with 42 drivers.

The quickest time of KZ2 has been set by classification leader Lorenzo Camplese (Maranello-Tm) in 56.266s, as Loris Spinelli (CRG-Tm) chased him closely with a 56.505s and the other protagonist of the championship, Francesco Celenta (Energy-Tm), was third in 56.450s. Giacomo Pollini (CKR-Tm) and Camplese's team mate, Marco Zanchetta, who is second in the championship came also to the fore today.

In KF2, Marco Maestranzi (Top Kart-Tm) has been once again very quick and posted a best lap of 58.276s, but his chasers are quite close to him: Andrea Moretti (Exprit-Tm) set in fact a 58.396s and Adriano Albano (Tony Kart-Tm) a 58.411s.

In KF3, Aldo Festante (Tony Kart-Lke) of team Forza Racing has been very fast setting the quickest time of 1.00.035, as did the Russian Milen Ponomarenko (Tony Kart-Lke). Current classification leader Remigio Garofano on Tony Kart-Tm, was about 6 tenths shy of the leader. Several protagonists of the championship will not be present in this round though such as Defrancesco, Sereia, Della Coletta, Travisanutto, and some others that are busy with international commitments.

The crowded 60 Mini has had only non-timed free practice so far as the timed session is scheduled for tomorrow morning. Giuseppe Fusco (Lenzo-Lke) got to Ortona leading the charts ahead of the Danish driver Dennis Hauger (CRG/Hero-Lke).
