Race 2: Leonardo Lorandi (Bhai Tech Racing) in Imola is indeed the fastest and from pole position he simply needs to resist to a first overtaking attempt by Olli Caldwell (Prema Theodore Racing), but then gains distance. Race 2 is not so easy for the Italian driver though, as he is constantly followed closely by Caldwell, who after 6 minutes of race sets best lap time, and by his teammate and first adversary in the Championship of the Bhai Tech driver, Enzo Fittipaldi. Fourth is poleman of race 1 and 3 Federico Malvestiti (Jenzer Motorsport).
Once distances seem to remain unvaried, at around 18’ from the end of the race an accident between Alessandro Famularo (Bhai Tech Racing) and Nazim Azman (Jenzer Motorsport) needs the entry on track of the safety car, that evidently compacts the group. At the restart Lorandi is closely followed by Caldwell, but once again the Italian driver manages to gain distance from the British. But again, at 13’ to the end of the race William Alatalo (Muecke Motorsport) spins and is on the gravel. He will manage to restart, but a lot of dirt in on track and safety car is back in for another compacting of the group. An additional risk for Lorandi’s race leadership, but the speed of Leonardo is today unbeatable and he finally wins the race in front of Caldwell, Fittipaldi, Malvestiti and first of the Rookies, with no racing experience on a very technical and difficult track like Imola, Petr Ptacek (Bhai Tech Racing), who continues to increase leadership in the Rookie Trophy standings.
