Rafael Camara is the fastest in free practice 1 at Monza

First the Brazilian, then Sztuka with a reduced gap

 The ACI Racing Weekend Monza is officially underway with the first free practice session. There are 44 drivers to take to the track for the 40-minute first practice of the day. The fastest is the Brazilian of PREMA Racing, Rafael Camara who sets the best lap at 1'53.007. He is followed at a short distance by US Racing's Pole Kacper Sztuka, who keeps the gap within hundredths of a second (+0.035). Then third is the second, along with Camara, Ferrari Driver Academy Prema Racing driver: Australian James Wharton (+0.108). Still well Charlie Wurz, author of a growing season that has seen him several times get on the podium along with his teammates (Prema Racing).

 

Fifth best time in practice for the Norwegian Rookie of Van Amersfoort Racing, Martinius Stenshorne (+0.248), closely followed by Marcus Amand (+0.258), driver of the German team US Racing. Classification leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Prema Racing) set the seventh time in Free Practice 1 with +0.259; behind him was David Zachary (US Racing), with +0.266. Jonas Ried, PHM Racing, also had an excellent session, scoring a gap of +0.365, followed by US Racing's Irishman Alexander Dunne (+0.394), who rounds out the top 10. Once again, as in yesterday's collective test day, the chronometric gaps are reduced, with as many as 20 drivers staying within a second of each other.

With the first morning session over, with air and track temperatures standing at 19° and dry conditions (humidity at 78%), it will be back on track again at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza track at 13.00 for another 40 minutes of free practice.

Qualifying sessions will be held in the morning of Saturday, Oct. 8 (8:30-8:45  and 8:55-9:10). Still Saturday will be race 1, starting at 15:10 (30 minutes + 1 lap). Sunday, Oct. 9, will start again in the morning with race 2 at 9:10 (30 minutes + 1 lap); then the last race of the weekend at 17:10 (30 minutes + 1 lap). All races of the weekend will be broadcast live on ACI Sport TV, Motorsport.tv, and on the Youtube and Facebook channels of the Italian F.4 Championship.
