On April 22 and 23 at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack in Imola, the Italian Formula 4 Championship begins: it is the best training ground one can find to showcase driving talent on four wheels. It is also one of the most difficult: last year 20 very young drivers went to the points and only two were Italian. One of them finished champion: Andrea Antonelli; for all of them the dream is to repeat his path. Among the rookies for the 2023 season, Davide Larini will begin his single-seater adventure with a team, AKM Motorsport, which is the reigning champion's family team.

The driver from Lido di Camaiore, class of 2007, first climbed into a Tatuus T421 of the Bologna-based team in late 2022, after training between July and November on a car in a version used until 2020, specially purchased by his father Nicola, an official driver for Italian manufacturers such as Ferrari and Alfa Romeo. That test in Vallelunga paved the way in 2023 for others scheduled on the tracks of Misano Adriatico, Imola, Mugello, Spa and Monza, workouts followed for the AKM Motorsport team by Luca Baldisseri, a technician active in Maranello during the very years when Davide's father was a test driver for the Cavallino. Despite the difference in experience behind him, Davide competed against the best opponents of the usual leading teams, convincing the team and his parents that he has what it takes to start measuring himself also in competition, as will happen in a few days starting with Imola.

Davide Larini:

"The main objective is to gain experience in a championship that I know will be very difficult, also because many drivers have already started since last year and are in their second season in Formula 4, while other new drivers have already started by participating in the "Winter Series" or in races in Dubai. The second biggest goal will be to try to give points to the team; it would be amazing to get points already in the first race. I have been participating in testing and so I have been training on the track and also training off the racetracks both physically and mentally. So now I feel ready for the competition, I am determined and optimistic."
