Umberto Scandola and Lorenzo Granai set the fastest time in the opening stage of the 47th Rally of Friuli and Oriental Alps

01/09/2011 - Udine - Umberto Scandola and Lorenzo Granai on Ford Fiesta S2000 set the fastest time in the opening stage of the 47th Rally of Friuli and Oriental Alps, penultimate round of the Italian Rally Championship, the series organized by CSAI of Automobile Club Italy.

Behind them, Paolo Andreucci and Anna Andreussi, with a 2.6seconds gap, while the couple Luca Rossetti - Matteo Chiarcossi end the top three at 3.1 seconds.

The fastest time of the Italian Junior Rally Championship was set by Fabrizio Ferrari and Dino Lamonato and were followed by the Renault New Clio of Andrea Nucita and Giuseppe Princiotto.

In the Italian Production Championship the fastest time was set by Gianfico on Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 that was followed by Maurizio Angrisani.

This Friday six more stages to be repeated twice. The start is scheduled in Cividale at 11.30 (local time, GMT+2) with the first "real" challenge of the new stage "Valle di Soffumbergo". The "Subit" stage will follow starting from Forame. The usual "Erbezzo" stage will come next before repeating the whole lap. The end of the day is scheduled for 18.45 in Cividale after about seventy racing kilometres.

Day two will be Saturday 3 September with special TV live coverage on Rai Sport 2 at 14.30 for the stage "Città di Cividale del Friuli".
