41st Rally San Marino: the racing summer gets hot

The await and the passion are mounting. The count down has started for the 41st San Marino Rally, the topic moment of the racing summer, one of the milestones of the rally on stage for a round valid for a long list of series.

After a two years long await, the famous gravel roads around the Titan Republic will be back in the Italian Rally Championship for a really awaited for return that will have in important impact to the championship quest. All the protagonists of the Italian Rally will be most awaited starting from current leader Umberto Scandola, followed by Alessandro Perico and then Paolo Andreucci, Alessandro Bosca and last year's winner of San Marino Giandomenico Basso.

This year the organization by Fams will stage the rally in collaboration with Scuderia San Marino, San Marino Rally Organization and San Marino Fuoristrada. This force union gave birth to an edition that is destined to be spectacular once again.

Ten stages to run: eight on gravel and two on tarmac. Two legs for the race that after several years will take place on Saturday and Sunday. The first day will start at 10 on Saturday 13 July and, after eight stages, it will end at 22.30. Two timed stages on Sunday instead with finish line at 13.

Once again the Titan's Republic will be the beating heart of the race with service park and two stages that will take place on the tarmac leading to the city gates. Two passages are scheduled at sunset, an experiment that was successful in the past editions and that will be repeated in this case.

The 41st edition of the San Marino Rally will be valid for CIR but also for the FIA Europe Cup coeff. 2, Italian Gravel Trophy, Italian Production Championship, Italian Junior Championship, FIA European Historic Rally, Italian Cross Country Championship and Michelin Gravel Cup.

The protagonists of the Citroen Racing Trophy will be present too with the models DS3 R3 competing in the third of the six rounds (second on gravel). In the French single brand the Sicilian driver Andrea Nucita will try and keep his leadership from the attacks of Simone Campedelli, but the young Alessandro Re, second in the general standings and Alex Vittalini, will not have to be underestimated.

The trophies Renault TWINGO TOP and CLIO R3 PRODUZIONE will be present too even if no points will be awarded at Rally San Marino, but lineups will aim to get the money prize to encourage the presence in a race valid for the Junior and Production Championships. Bosca, Ferrarotti (Clio) and Crungola, Andolfi (Twingo) are the main protagonists of the 2000 and 1600cc.
