Capoliveri (LI), sabato 21 settembre 2019 - Alberto Salvini e Davide Tagliaferri sulla Porsche 911 RS di 2° Raggruppamento vincono il Rallye Elba Storico e centrano il primo successo assoluto nel Campionato Italiano Rally Auto Storiche 2019. La corsa sull’Isola, valida come penultimo round del tricolore e del FIA European Historic Rally Championship è stato uno spettacolo costante, da start a stop. Pieno di colpi di scena. L’ultimo è arrivato proprio nel tratto conclusivo quando, per soli 5.2’’, Salvini-Tagliaferri hanno strappato il primo posto a Da Zanche-De Luis sulla Porsche 911 SC di 4° Raggruppamento.

“Una gara unica, probabilmente la più bella nel panorama internazionale” è il commento di appassionati, equipaggi e addetti ai lavori, italiani e non, che hanno vissuto questa trentunesima edizione del rally storico organizzato, con successo, da ACI Livorno Sport. 141 vetture che si sono sfidate per tre giorni su oltre 450 km complessivi di asfalto. Primo tra tutti quindi il pilota senese, che mette così la sua quinta firma nell’albo d’oro della gara elbana con una prestazione da incorniciare sulla Gruppo 4 tedesca del Team Balletti. Dopo un botta e risposta nelle ultime speciali, Salvini ha piazzato lo scratch decisivo sulla “Nisporto-Cavo”. Partendo 0.5’’ dietro a Da Zanche ha cancellato in un amen sia il gap che la differenza di categoria tra le due vetture. Rimane comunque la prestazione di livello del valtellinese sulla tedesca del team Pentacar, che ha sfiorato la tripletta in Campionato dopo aver approfittato del ritiro dei principali avversari di 4° Raggruppamento.

Prima l’attesissimo elbano Francesco Bettini, dominatore della Prima Tappa, poi il già Campione Italiano di 4° Raggruppamento “Lucky” Battistolli, entrambi su Lancia Delta Integrale, hanno lasciato il primo posto per rotture meccaniche. Così è salito in cattedra il pilota di Bormio ha preso la testa a tre prove dal traguardo. Poi il gran finale: scratch di Salvini sul “Perone”, risposta di Da Zanche sulla “Volterraio” e ancora il toscano davanti con la sterzata decisiva.

Il terzo posto assoluto vale come una vittoria per l’altro elbano Andrea Volpi. Il driver di Portoferraio su Delta HF Integrale Gruppo A, con Michele Maffoni, si è tenuto in scia dei migliori ad ogni prova fino a salire sull’ultimo gradino del podio, tra gli applausi del pubblico di Capoliveri.

Tra i protagonisti del rally anche Totò Riolo. Il siciliano ha combattuto nelle fasi inziali con problemi elettrici alla nuova Ford Sierra Cosworth del Team Chiavenuto. Nella seconda tappa è però riuscito, insieme ad Alessandro Floris, a trovare la quadra della Gruppo A e grazie al miglior crono su due passaggi ha chiuso a ridosso del podio assoluto e terzo di Raggruppamento.

Il quinto posto nella classifica generale significa la vittoria nel 3° raggruppamento per Angelo Lombardo. Il giovane siciliano, con Giuseppe Livecchi, ha portato la Porsche 911 SC del Team Guagliardo in testa alla categoria nell’ultima frazione, sfruttando la frenata di “Zippo” all’alba del sabato. Andrea Zivian infatti ha limitato gli errori al volante di Audi Quattro dopo aver comandato sulle prime sei speciali. Il pilota di Alessandria, al secondo posto dietro a Lombardo per 21.7’’, può comunque festeggiare una vittoria per l’Europeo che lo rilancia per la classifica continentale di Raggruppamento nel duello con Karl Wagner. L’austriaco navigato da Gerda Zauner è stato infatti limitato già dalla partenza per un problema al motore della sua 911 SC.

Dominio assoluto nel 1°Raggruppamento per Marco Dell’Acqua e Alberto Galli, che hanno messo la loro Porsche 911 S davanti a tutti ad ogni passaggio della prima tappa. Poi hanno gestito il vantaggio nella seconda per mettersi in tasca una vittoria che riapre la corsa al titolo italiano. Il Rallye Elba regala invece una soddisfazione unica per Nello Parisi e Giuseppe D’Angelo, anche loro su 911 S, che vincono con una gara d’anticipo il Campionato Europeo di 1° Raggruppamento. Decisivo il vantaggio al traguardo rispetto ai rivali britannici Ernie e Karen Graham su Ford Escort Twin Cam.

Assolo anche per quanto riguarda il Trofeo A112 Abarth Yokohama. Il protagonista assoluto è ancora Raffaele Scalabrin, affiancato da Giulia Paganoni, che ha messo nuovamente tutte le vetture dello scorpione in fila e ha riportato a casa dall’Elba due vittorie per la competizione monomarca sulle due tappe a disposizione.

Ora il Campionato Italiano Rally Auto Storiche si porterà verso l’ottavo ed ultimo appuntamento stagionale, il Rally Due Valli Historic in programma a Verona dal 10 al 12 ottobre prossimo. 

 

 

Salvini-Tagliaferri (Porsche 911 RS) win the photo finish at the XXXI Historic Rallye Elba

The crew from Siena of Group 2 found his way past Da Zanche-De Luis (Porsche 911 SC 4th Group) in the last test. The third place went to Volpi-Maffoni (Delta). Lombardo-Livecchi (911 SC) won group 3, while "Zippo”-Arena lead the European standings. Dell'Acqua-Galli (911 S) on top again in Group 1.

Capoliveri (LI), Saturday, September 21st 2019 - Alberto Salvini and Davide Tagliaferri in the Porsche 911 RS of Group 2 won the Historic Rallye Elba and claimed the first win in the Italian Historic Rally Car Championship 2019. The rally on the island was the penultimate round of the Italian campaign and of the FIA European Historic Rally Championship. It has been an eventful rally and produced a great spectacle from the start to the end. The sting in the tail arrived in the closing test when Salvini-Tagliaferri claimed the first place leading Da Zanche-De Luis in the Group 4 Porsche 911 SC by 5.2’’.

“It has been a unique rally, most probably it was the nicest on the International scene” this has been the comment of fans, crews and staff both from Italy and foreign that lived this 31st edition of the historic rally successfully organized by ACI Livorno Sport. A total of 141 cars challenged each other on the more than 450 km competitive. The driver from Siena led the pack and claimed the fifth win of this rally through an amazing performance in the German Group 4 run by Team Balletti. After the battles in the closing stages, Salvini put in the decisive blow on the “Nisporto-Cavo”. Started 0.5s behind Da Zanche, he quickly voided the category gap between the two cars. The Italian put in a great performance nevertheless in the German car run by team Pentacar that came close to securing a one-two-three in the Championship making the most of the retirement of the main rivals in Group 4.

The much-awaited home hero Francesco Bettini dominated Day one and then the Italian Champion of Group 4 “Lucky” Battistolli, both in the Lancia Delta Integrale, had to retire from P1. The driver from Bormio took the lead with three stages to go. After this, the grand finale: Salvini had the upper hand on “Perone”, Da Zanche bounced back in the “Volterraio” and then the Tuscan driver was back on the lead.

The third place is worth a victory for Andrea Volpi. The driver from Portoferraio on Delta HF Integrale Group A with Michele Maffoni, kept close to the front runners and was cheered on the final step of the podium in Capoliveri.

Totò Riolo was also among the protagonists of the rally. The Sicilian driver suffered electric problems early on in his new Ford Sierra Cosworth run by Team Chiavenuto. In Day two he managed, together with Alessandro Floris, to find the edge in Group A and the best time in two tests allowed him to end close to the overall podium in third place of his Group.

The fifth place of the overall classification and victory in Group 3 went to Angelo Lombardo. The young Sicilian driver and Giuseppe Livecchi, led the Porsche 911 SC of Team Guagliardo to the lead of the category in the last test making the most of “Zippo” slowing down early on Saturday. Andrea Zivian limited the mistakes on the Audi Quattro after leading the first six stages. The driver from Alessandria was second behind Lombardo by 21.7s but this was enough to celebrate a victory in the European championship that relaunches his Group classification in the battle with Karl Wagner. The Austrian and co-driver Gerda Zauner had a problem to the engine of this 911 SC since the beginning.

Group 1 was dominated by Marco Dell’Acqua and Alberto Galli that placed their Porsche 911 S on top in all the stages of day one. They then managed the advantage in the second part of the rally to secure a win that reopened the Italian title campaign. The Rallye Elba has been quite successful for Nello Parisi and Giuseppe D’Angelo, also on a 911 S, as the pairing won the European Championship Group 1 one race early. The advantage at the flag on the Brits Ernie and Karen Graham on Ford Escort Twin Cam was decisive in this campaign.

Raffaele Scalabrin and Giulia Paganoni have been the protagonists of the A112 Abarth Yokohama Trophy. They led all their rivals and claimed two wins for the single-make series.

The Italian Historic Rally Cars Championship will now continue with the eighth and closing round of the season, the Rally Due Valli Historic next October 10-12 in Verona.
