The Championship

The Formula Regional European Championship is an additional and strong asset for the FIA concept of “The road to F1” that, after karting, is made of championships, starting from F4, that permit a fast, complete and structured approach of the drivers to F1. Along such “road” Formula Regional represents the perfect step forward after F4 for those drivers who, starting from 16 years of age and with FIA B or C licence, will continue their learning course and the tuning of their talent. In such sense, the Formula Regional European Championship will permit to conquer between 20 to 25 points valid for the FIA Super License.

The 8 appointments of the 2019 calendar will take place with a format organized with two 40’ sessions of free practice on Friday, two qualifying sessions of 15’ on Saturday, and three 30’ plus one lap races that will be held on Saturday (race 1) and Sunday (race 2 and 3).

The 2019 Championship will start on the 13-14 of April on the F1 circuit of Paul Ricard, in Le Castellet, France, and will continue with two Italian circuits, Vallelunga, the 4-5 of May, and Imola the 8-9 of June*. The fourth appointment will be held on the Hungarian circuit of the Hungaroring on the 6-7 July, while the following week the Formula Regional will arrive in Austria, at the Red Bull Ring. On the 21-22 of September teams and drivers will move to Spain, in Montmelò, on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, while the last two appointments of the year will be held in Italy, on Monza ENI Circuit on the 5-6 October and at Mugello Circuit on the 19-20 of October.
