US Racing will take part in the Formula Regional European Championship 2019. The team of Gerhard Ungar and Ralf Schumacher is extending its race program in 2019 season and will join the Formula Regional European Championship with two cars.

The Tatuus F3 T-318 with Alfa Romeo 270 hp engine will make its debut in Europe this year in the new Formula Regional European Championship certified by FIA.

“We have consciously decided to take part in the Formula Regional European Championship certified by FIA since we wanted to extend our race program to a higher Formula car race series after competing 4 years in the Formula 4“, explains Gerhard Ungar.

“Coming from Formula 4, the Formula Regional European Championship certified by FIA offers an optimal, advanced race series for young race drivers in single-seater racing. This series is complete with a comprehensive race program which includes 5 Formula 1 race tracks in this season; an important parameter for young drivers. Pirelli will be the official supplier for the championship with the same tyres that are already used in higher series like the International Formula 3 and Formula 2 as well as in Formula 1 with similar tyre specifications.

With the new chassis and Halo, the car has furthermore the most recent safety standards in Motorsport. One further point is a total gaining of 25 super license points the drivers can achieve in this championship, which is in the context of a Formula 1 motivation a considerable number. Additional to that, the winner of the championship will get the chance for a test with an International F3 car and Formula 2 car, which should be an additional incentive for every determined race driver“, explains Ralf Schumacher.

"Starting in Karting and continuing to F4 and to Formula Regional European Championship, the Team is now covering a comprehensive program in junior racing,“ concludes Schumacher.

“We picked up the car last November at the Tatuus factory in Italy, the first tests started in December with several test days in Barcelona. There we could collect much and important data and mileage. The F3 T-318 is an optimal race car to prepare for higher single-seater series like the International Formula 3 or the Formula 2.

Also, the cost factor is a very important point. The organizer ACI Sport and WSK decided a limitation of test days, tyres and engines to avoid an explosion of costs.

We are now looking forward to the new challenge with the new car in the Formula Regional European Championship“, comments Gerhard Ungar.

The race series will start on the 14.04.19 in Le Castellet and includes a total of 8 race weekends with three 30 minutes races for each appointment.
